Very Very First Day: messy and strive

sitting in KongU finally and got my own desktop computer. Still have to working on the bench and although the space in this lab is quite large, there are seven people crowded in it already. they said they will clear a corner for me and give me a personal desk in future, but I am still not so sure about how far this "future" will be.Hoping it would arrive with my formal contract in later this month, or in October--hope so.

Although still working on a bench and every one passed my backside from time to time (still not sure how many of them are curious about what I am doing on this computer and "flashed" their sights quickly on my screen when they passed by, but just let it be, I never mind= =||||||||), my new computer in the lab is perfect (although still a little slow when processing big maya files but all computers do so, =v=), and it has two LCDs, one of which is 19 inch while the other 15. Oh Yeah. I am satisfied. very much. Thank you.Whoosh.=v=

(And almost every person in this lab has at least two LCDs, oooppps. How rich this university [and this department] is?! Orz)

Since I got 2 LCDs to use now, I process maya on one, while checking email and doing M$ files on the other (of course maya is on 19 inch one =v=)

Checking old maya files the "past 3D guy" have left to me.The modeling is not as detailed as I thought (but I am required to do a more detailed modeling works than that, orz)

Leaning new 3D softwares Sketchup and playing with it. This software is so funny and user friendly, even for a 3D greenhand....strongly recommend everyone to try it=v= (http://www.sketchup.com/)

Memorized all working mates in this lab already, totally seven, six male one female, excluding me. The name of that female is Nicole, yes same as the female protagonist in Sword III, hahaha. Easy to memorize, hoho.

And all seven guys are programmers. Orz.

Seems that I will learn a lot in this year...MEL scripting is not SO hard, perhaps...if I am surrounded by so many "professional" guys, =v=

Got much information today and still lots of stuffs to learn, especially on Softwares..get in touch with many new things in the very first day of working and I think this is a good beginning....perhaps. Being busy since the very beginning--without any waste on time or "fishing" (Muo[1] Yu[2]) we called it in Chinese=v=

Keeping on reviewing maya library that built by their "past 3D guys" in the afternoon and found the modeling works are not as hard as I thought, although I am required to do a more detailed job based on the tough version what they have made.

Learning to recognize all symbols and signs on the floor plan that was created by AutoCAD, which is the very first 3D software I learnt in my life--earlier than maya, even the PS. I learnt this software quite long long ago (one year after graduating from secondary school) and found it's boring (autoCAD is desinged for engineering and interior designers, rather than Animator, or CG artists), then dumped all related knowledge out of my brain...seems that I have to collected all these information back again, orz.

And I also found that, although the name of this job is "RA" or "3D graphic Modeler", its content is related with animation, keyframing and mel scripting also firmly. Have to packaged these knowledge before applying them, and have to learn them by myself since now, coz they have mentioned it to me already, on the very first day of working. They said there are some "sample models" that have built by the old 3D guys and we could import these files, but many new complicated motions are needed also.

So many stuffs that I have to learn or pick up...just a little afraid that whether my ability could cover such a job. I am the only CGer in this lab also, and there is nobody to depend on. Have to strive by myself now.
